Description
The son of a captain who was killed in action, James Kirk (Chris Pine) is an incredibly intelligent but unmotivated rebel who is challenged by his father’s comrade Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood) to become part of Starfleet like his father. The half-Vulcan, half-human Spock (Zachary Quinto) grew up under scrutiny by his peers from his bloodline, and after considering future after an emotional outburst, decides to become part of Starfleet. These two men will become friends, but not without an intense battle between the USS Enterprise and the Romulans, led by Nero (Eric Bana).
With an ensemble cast giving the characters a fresh start like McCoy (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), Chekhov (Anton Yelchin), Uhura (Zoe Saldana). Simon Pegg is great comic relief as Scottie. With plenty of references to the TV series, as well as a very un-cheesy cameo by old Spock (Leonard Nimoy), this film has boosted the series to a higher, and more anticipated level for the sequel.

Comments about PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT Star Trek (2009):
A new interpretation of an enduring series. This is a fun and watchable movie, with some very good action sequences. The mostly, little known actors give the movie a fresh appeal. And director JJ Abrahms gets around any contradictions to the original with a clever, if unoriginal, plot twist.

Comments about PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT Star Trek (2009):
Like STAR TREK? Disappointed in the movies they made? Then this is a welcome return to form from director JJ Abrams (LOST, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3) who injects much needed new life into the franchise. Entertaining and very well made sci-fi for the whole family... Trekkies too!

Comments about PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT Star Trek (2009):
Star Trek is a very good re-imagining of the aging franchise that drags it into the 21st century whilst holding true to the original series spirit through some subtle and not so subtle nods to past incarnations.
First things first...it's a blockbuster, looks great and is entertaining throughout...the script is snappy and it's tightly edited to tell a resonably expansive story. The characters are likeable and well cast and it's fun seeing who's playing who in the star trek pre-story. Only gripe I have is that Bana has silly head make-up on and is under-used and has rather boring reasons for wanting to kill/destroy everything.
All in all...very good action fare...I should also mention that Spock is great...both the new and the old...you'll understand when you see it.
